This is a spirit doll I just finished making. I have had this in the works for over a year, but never got around to finishing it till this weekend. I used strips of batik material, hand-spun recycled silk yarn, polymer clay, copper wire, shells, and all kind of gemstone beads. I am keeping her. I have always loved Mermaids, cus I am one.
I hand burned all the designs into the wood, including the words "Sea Spirit:, and set the gemstones into the wood as well. My favorite part is the copper and bead head-dress I made her. I want one in human size for myself. Sea Spirit stands 14 inches tall. She is holding a staff which has lots of fun trinkets in it, including a Quartz Crystal point. Her tail is done in hand hammered copper which I put beads on in the color of the rainbow and Chakra. Her face is made with polymer clay. I added all of my favorite things, Gypsy, Hippie, and Native American aspects. On her left hip, there are two fish, one for each of my kids, on her right hip is one more fish, which represents a baby I lost during pregnancy, so all of my kids are represented
