Rosemary - collage

I spent most of Easter weekend collaging. I love collaging, it is such a relaxing, meditative art. I wanted to share a handful of my favorites that I made, the ones I felt most connected to.

This one is titled "Rosemary" who was my paternal grand mother. She was an awesome, giving, talented, strong woman! She did pottery, porcelain, and could cook and sew like a pro! I always feel that it is through her heart that I gained all of my creativity. She spoiled me and my twin sister rotten. I feel her presence all the time around me. She played the organ when we were young, and now that she has passed, I have that very organ in my house which I use for an altar space for creativity and both of my grand-mothers whom I loved so much.
My grandma Rosemary cooked the most delicious meals and candies that I remember so well growing up around the holidays.  Just being at her house meant magic to me. If I am ever upset and need to calm my emotions, I close my eyes and imagine that I am on her couch, taking in the feeling of the comfort and love she surrounded me with, smelling the cooking food and candies, and just knowing we were going to do something magical together.
She loved creating with her hands, she loved her grand-kids, she collected blue china, I miss her so much and I can't wait to see her again! She was so encouraging of me following my dreams and being an artist full time. Any time she would find an article in her magazines or newspapers about a glass artist, she would always send it to me.
She passed away before I was published, but I am sure she was looking down on me, and that she would be so proud of me for letting creativity flow through my hands, passed down from her heart!
