Thanks FreeFlyingAngel, Batik is a certain of method in dying fabrics or textiles, by first applying wax to the material in patterns or designs before dying with color. It makes for beautiful designs in fabric and that look or kind of design is known as Batik.

A prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and for other purposes. Prayer flags are believed to have originated with  Bon, which predated Buddhism in Tibet. 

So they are really for just a colorful celebration and blessing in your life. :)
