Laughing Rain

I spent most of Easter weekend collaging. I love collaging, it is such a relaxing, meditative art. I wanted to share a handful of my favorites that I made, the ones I felt most connected to.

This one is titled "Laughing Rain". I made this collage to represent the celebration of daughters and women in general, being valued and prized, and being loved and wanted. But it has a very deep meaning to me as well. I lost a baby during a pregnancy when I was about 40 years old. We never found out what the sex of the child was, but all the time I feel she was a girl. I would have named her Ruby Rain. Often I hear singing, especially when I am alone and it is quiet and I am relaxed and ready for bed. I always think it is her, singing to me, letting me know she is there with me.  I believe that one day all mother's who have lost a child of any age, will get to have a space in time to raise them and see them grow. This is my depiction of getting to do just that, getting to laugh and live, and know my lost daughter, my angel daughter in our sacred space in time.
